Battle of the sexes

by Alisha Mishell on September 29, 2011

The entrance of the Sun into Venus Ruled Libra marks the beginning of the autumn equinox thus proclaiming the urge to unite and relate to others. The Cosmic Principle of the Libran Archetype depicts reciprocity in relationships, balance, beauty, harmony and justice. Earthly marriage is a merely a reflection of these heavenly patterns. While this sign is usually associated with interpersonal relationships, the ultimate “Sacred Union” is between the lower self (ego) and the higher Self (Soul) and between one’s own inner male and female (anima & animas).

This month’s new moon in gracious diplomatic Libra on October 14th (11:44AM PST) is challenged by a conjunction to Saturn, a wide square to Pluto in Capricorn and opposed by the Jupiter Uranus Conjunction in Pisces. This powerful configuration will catalyze the need to align with your true sense of self. Be receptive to what is mirrored back to you from your partner (and friendships) and likewise from you to them. We learn about ourselves (1rst house) by ‘relating to “others” (7th house) thru the sacred mirror of relationships. In fact, ALL relationships (our children, parents, siblings, co-workers…) have the quality of mirroring aspects of our selves that we cannot see without the contrast of the “other”. The potential to harmonize and restore balance to all of our relationships continues with the restructuring principle of Saturn’s presence in Libra until autumn 2012.

Meanwhile both Venus and Mars are journeying together through sultry Scorpio, thus radiating a plutonic pressure to balance and blend the essence of our male female counterparts. Venus goes retrograde the day after this new moon for 6 weeks and catches back up to Mars in May of 2011. This combination can bring out an abrasive emotional reprieve, a quality that is demanding, suspicious, controlling, possessive and jealous. Be aware of the tendency to fall into the shadow lands of the scorpionic forces. Instead, utilize this powerful combination to have deep soul searching moments with your self and/or your partner. This energy intoxicates the receptive with desire to share in sacred sexuality, which radiates tangible healing vibrations toward the age-old wounds of our collective sexual nature. The blending of these two planets will continue to add strength to the feminine mode and a magnetic and sensitive quality to the masculine mode. They are perfect heavenly compliments when power is equalized between them.

Jupiter Uranus conjunctions are amazing conduits for innovation and fabulous ideas that are delivered on the edge of lightening. Pay attention to those flashes of insights and grab the reigns quickly. The first alignment was on June 8th in Aries, then in Pisces on September 18th and lastly on January 4th 2011. The radical and expansive potency of the cosmic combo has the power to create or destroy. The oil catastrophe in the Gulf and the Israeli flotilla trauma were 2 manifestations of the destructive manifestation of this energy. It is guaranteed to bring surprises or oftentimes a shock in its wake.

This month’s full moon at 29* Libra opposing Aries on the 22nd (6:36PM PST) brings the confrontation of the Venus (Libra) and Mars (Aries) on deck yet again. Apply the cosmic wisdom to recognize and communicate your own needs, desires and truth in relating with others, no matter what role they play in your movie. This 180* polarity is charged with rich meaningful ways to balance your needs with the needs of “the other “and to equally distribute the power to both players. This is fertile ground, which is beckoning us all to recognize and heal compulsive emotional patterns that create tension and stress through subterfuge in our relationships. Become the unique expression of the cosmic forces made manifest through you. You are not the body, not the emotions, not the mind and nor your experiences. You are a sacred steward of cosmic energy that is embodied through you. The Dalai Lama reminds us that, “We can never obtain peace in the outer world until we make peace with ourselves”.

Have a blessed month, Alisha Michell
